Frequently Asked Questions

Can homoeopathy help me?

Please see Who can benefit from Homoeopathy?

What happens when I visit you?

When an appointment has been made I send out my initial appointment letter (confirming the time and date), a leaflet, a questionnaire (preferably to be completed and returned to me before the initial appointment) and a map (helpful to many people).

The Consultation

The initial consultation lasts for about one and a half hours. I am interested, not only in your physical symptoms (when and where there is pain, what makes it better or worse, and under what circumstances it started), but also a whole range of other information. I will ask about your physical and emotional symptoms, medical history, family history, likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, sleep pattern, weather preferences.

You will have plenty of time to tell me about anything that you feel is relevant to you. After the consultation, I shall spend further time, using all this information to find a remedy to suit your individual needs.

The cost of the consultation includes the remedy (which will be sent to you by post) and relevant support (telephone/answer machine) until the next appointment. Follow-up appointments (last approx 45mins) are usually recommended 4-6wks apart for the initial course of treatment. Appointments are essential as they assess the beneficial effects of the homoeopathic prescription and monitor your progress.

Homoeopathy takes effect in many forms, please note any changes and report those to me, so that we can both work together for your better health.

What is the cost of treatment?

Homoeopathy requires time for the homoeopath to find a prescription and consequently the 1st appointment needs to be for approx. 1hr 30mins - £50.00 (child - £40.00) and follow up appointments - £30.00 (child - £25.00). For cancellation of appointment please allow 24hrs notice or fee will be incurred.

What should I expect from treatment?

Homoeopathy has much to offer the individual. Mental, emotional and physical aspects are all taken into account and a path of progress is established. This will vary considerably depending upon the individual’s medical condition, their vitality and response to treatment. This requires time and co-operation, appointments being essential to successful homoeopathic prescribing for a system of health and well-being. The aim is to get you to a level of health so that eventually you will need infrequent treatment. I hope you will give it at least 4 sessions to enable us to establish changes in health.

Will I have to give up my medication?

It is not necessary to give up any medication or any medical treatment you are presently involved in to commence homoeopathic treatment. Homoeopathy can work with this and does not interfere with your medication/treatment in any way.

On the other hand we sometimes find, due to improvements in health, that people sometimes choose to reduce their medication (in co-operation with their GP) or that medicines are less frequently needed.

I am working with you for the improvement of your health!

Will homoeopathy interfere with my medication?

Please see above.

How long will it take to get better?

In some cases there are remarkable and dramatic improvement, in others it may take some time. Children in particular can respond remarkably well to homoeopathic treatment. I usually recommend 4 sessions to enable us to establish changes in health. The aim is to get you to a level of health so that eventually you need infrequent treatment. It is important to view cure as a process.

Can I use homoeopathic medicines instead of Vaccines?

It is natural that parents want the best for their baby/child. It is up to parents to collect as much information as they can to make an informed decision. There are many books available on the subject and the internet is an invaluable resource.

How can homeopathy help?

Homeopathy can support you, whatever your decision. With treatment of homeopathy for baby/child (a holistic prescription), the individual is more resistant to infection and less susceptible to illness. Do please seek homeopathic treatment as soon as possible enabling improvement of health to become established. It is always sensible to work with your homeopath to maximise the total health of your baby/child.

At present there is insufficient evidence to support the use of homeopathic prophylactics.

Can I treat myself with homoeopathic remedies?

With first aid problems e.g. bruises cuts and stings homoeopathy can be an effective home treatment. I produce a leaflet for patients with simple guidance and kits are available. I also offer advice on the first aid kits, on a one to one basis, or in small informal groups for a short first aid course, aimed at a basic understanding of homeopathy for self-help at home. There are also some good books available – Reading List

What about seeing a GP?

A homoeopath works with all medical professions to improve your health. It is recommended that you maintain a good relationship with your GP.
